Player Training and Development

Our program is designed to develop players over the course of an entire year—not just during tournament season. Each season has a different purpose, allowing athletes to build skills, gain confidence, compete, and continue growing throughout the year.

Fall (August – October)

  • One team practice per week

  • One game per week (occasionally two, depending on league schedule)

  • 8–10 week fall league

  • Participation in either Blue Valley Fall League or 3&2 Fall League (league selected based on team fit)

  • Fair playing time and player development

  • To wrap up the season, each team will compete in approximately two local tournaments (Prep Baseball, Perfect Game, or USSSA). These tournaments serve as our "postseason"—an opportunity for players to experience tournament baseball before the spring season. While player development remains the priority, athletes also begin learning the importance of team roles, situational baseball, and competitive play.

November: No organized team activities.

Winter (December - March)

  • Sunday team practices at Premier Baseball

  • Players also have the opportunity to participate in discounted private instruction and small-group training offered through Premier Baseball (separate from Diablos Baseball).

    • Catching Program: 4-month program, 2 nights per week, led by experienced former catchers and pro level coaches

    • Hitting Groups: 4-6 kids per group, 2 nights per week, led by Premier baseball hitting coaches

    • Fielding Groups: 4-6 kids per group, 1 time per week (Friday or Saturday), led by Premier baseball fielding coaches

    • High School Premier Pitching Program (November - February): 13 and Up. Contact Bob Zimmermann directly at bob@premierbaseballkc.com for more information about the Pitching Program.

Spring (April - June)

  • One outdoor team practice per week at Olathe Northwest Campus Field

  • Local Kansas City-area tournaments (7-10 tournaments per season based on age group)

  • Tournament schedule released before the season begins to help families plan ahead

July: No organized team activities.
